Secretary and officials of Supreme National Security Council met with Leader

Security is one of the most vital needs of society

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Wednesday morning with Admiral Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and the deputies and experts in the secretariat of that council.

Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence referred to the complexities and the different dimensions of security in today’s world and stated that the responsibility of the Supreme National Security Council is to make decisions within the framework of a fundamental and multi-dimensional outlook towards the issue of security.

His Eminence added that the important responsibility of the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council is decision-building with the purpose of creating a correct path for decision-making in that council, reiterating: “In order for the secretariat to play the very important role of decision-building in a correct and complete manner, the dominant environment in the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council and its orientations should be completely compatible with ‘correct, pure, revolutionary and hezbollahi thinking’.”

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that security is one of the most vital needs of society and that it has been stressed by the Holy Quran many times, adding: “Today, the issue of security is no longer merely a military and security issue, rather it enjoys economic, livelihood, cultural, political, social, psychological and moral dimensions as well.”

His Eminence said that the main responsibility of the Supreme National Security Council is adopting a comprehensive outlook towards the issue of security by considering all its dimensions. He said: “The secretariat of the council should carry out the important responsibility of decision-building in a way that the decisions of the Supreme National Security Council are shaped within the framework of a correct and multi-dimensional outlook towards the issue of security.”

Referring to the various activities of the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council, he said: “Playing the role of decision-building in the Secretariat depends on the establishment of a hundred percent revolutionary outlook in this organization because if the orientations of the secretariat take deviant angles from the Islamic Revolution, the result will not be ideal.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that revolutionary positions and orientations are not illusions and generalities, adding: “Revolutionary positions and orientations are real and completely clear and transparent, and they are based on the statements of Imam (r.a.).”

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the efforts of some people to distort the main and clear guidelines of the Revolution, saying: “Imam (r.a.) is the embodiment of the Revolution and on this basis, his statements – that have been published in tens of volumes of books – constitute the principles of the Revolution.”

His Eminence described those points that have been frequently mentioned in Imam’s (r.a.) statements as the main guidelines and the principles of the Islamic Revolution, reiterating: “On the basis of Imam’s (r.a.) statements, the issue of the people, the independence of the country, piety and commitment to Islamic principles, fighting against arrogance and bullying, Palestine, the people’s living conditions, and attention to the poor and eliminating poverty, are the main guidelines of the Revolution from whose combination the geometry of the Revolution is acquired.”

He stated that the decisions made by the Supreme National Security Council should be based on the main guidelines of the Revolution and he added: “Correct, pure and hezbollahi thinking should play a dominant role in the Supreme National Security Council and in its secretariat.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated: “From the very beginning of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, some people did not agree with revolutionary thinking and some people also did not believe in fighting against arrogance despite the fact that they were part of the system. Therefore, this orientation should be confronted.”

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that fighting has always existed during the past 37 years. He added: “Of course today, because of the new and complex methods used by the enemy, this fighting – such as the issue of cyberspace and its cultural, ideological, social and anti-security impacts – has become more difficult and more sensitive.”

Referring to the soft and quiet influence of new methods concerning the “under-the-surface security of society”, His Eminence said: “The Supreme National Security Council should attend to and make decisions about all these matters in different areas. On this basis, the secretariat of the council too should conduct correct decision-building through efficient thinking, untiring efforts and expert work based on revolutionary thinking. The purpose of doing so is to confront these complex and new anti-security methods.”

At the end of his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution described Admiral Shamkhani as one of the very good reminders of the Sacred Defense Era and thanked the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council for its practical and timely reports on different matters.
