Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Sunday morning with the head and officials of the judiciary branch. Commemorating Shahid Beheshti and Shahid Qoddusi, two valuable martyrs of the judiciary branch, His Eminence described independence and intractability in the judiciary branch as very important, reiterating: "We should confront those elements and factors that jeopardize the independence of the judiciary branch such as threats, bribery, standing on ceremony and public pressures and instead, we should rely on correct behavior and methods."
He added: "Good tasks have been carried out regarding the health of the judiciary branch. This path should be continued in a serious way because the emergence of any kind of corruption in the judiciary branch will prepare the ground for greater forms of corruption in society."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the large number of prisoners as a regrettable phenomenon, saying: "We are paying a high price for this in financial, familial, moral and social areas and we should seriously think of a cure for it by considering different solutions."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the problems that family courts are faced with such as the issue of collaborative divorce, stressing: "The honorable judges should decrease such problems with the help of the senior members of families."
His Eminence stressed the necessity of planning in the judiciary branch and said: "Relying on clear and well-defined plans will help us move in the right direction on the path of future horizons and it will prevent us from getting stuck in daily struggles and conflicts."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution highlighted the significance of reforming the law, stating: "The law smoothes the path of progress of the country. If certain laws are problematic and contradict one another, they should be corrected, however I do not believe in breaking the law in any way."
