Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met Thursday evening with the Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that common language and culture of the regional countries can prepare the ground for expanding and strengthening bilateral and multi-lateral relations and for building a better future.
His Eminence said that Iran welcomes expansion of ties with Tajikistan in different areas, adding: "Showing respect for traditions, beliefs and rituals of the people attracts their firm support and by relying on the support of their people, all governments can remain steadfast in the face of foreign interference."
During the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon discussed the areas for Iran-Tajikistan cooperation and asked for further expansion of economic, political and cultural ties between the two countries.
He referred to the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran and said: "The inaugural speech delivered by Your Eminence at the summit will prepare the ground for this movement to become more dynamic and significant."
Emomali Rahmon said that foreigners are making efforts to cause insecurity in the regional countries and to keep them backward. He added: "With each other's help, we will stand up against these plans."
