Speaking to a large number of worshipers in Tehran during Eid ul-Fitr prayers, Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the recent regional developments as the beginning of a long path and urged the Egyptians, Libyans, Tunisians, Yemenis and other regional nations not to let hegemonic powers to hijack their movements.
His Eminence warned that global powers are trying to hijack the Libyan movement and added: "Until recently, these powers were cooperating with the oppressive rulers of Libya, but today they are trying to hijack the movement. So the people of Libya should be vigilant against these hegemonic powers."
Ayatollah Khamenei added: "After the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the arrogant powers made many efforts to make up for the interests that had been jeopardized and to hijack the Revolution. But the vigilance of the people and the prophet-like leadership of Imam Khomeini did not let them achieve their goals. In order to achieve final victory, the regional nations need the same vigilance."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that he is deeply concerned about the situation of the people of Bahrain and added: "These innocent people are being oppressed and the promises that had been made to them are not fulfilled."
Ayatollah Khamenei added: "Of course any movement that is carried out for the sake of God will definitely achieve victory and this divine rule is true everywhere."
His Eminence also described the situation of the people of Somalia as tragic and urged Iranian people and government officials to rush to their aid.
Elsewhere in his statements, The Leader of the Islamic Revolution expressed his gratitude to the people of Iran for their impressive turnout in Quds Day rallies and added that the regional developments caused certain Muslim nations to join this year's Quds Day rallies.
His Eminence said that the insight and determination of the Iranian people are a great divine blessing which should not be taken for granted.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that unity among the people and government officials is an essential and urgent need.
He further reiterated: "Due to the current regional events, an important stage is being shaped in the history of the world. Our people and government officials should be completely vigilant in these highly sensitive conditions and they must not allow discord to prevent the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic from fulfilling their great responsibilities at this decisive historical stage."
Ayatollah Khamenei described sense of dynamism as an essential need and stressed: "Iran needs economic, scientific, social and political efforts and dynamism and everybody should try to fulfill this essential need in his or her position of responsibility."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the next parliamentary elections, which will be held in March 2012, and added: "Elections are the manifestation of presence of the people and religious democracy and they are a great asset for the security of the country. We must take care not to let this great asset turn into a challenge for our national security."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that it has become completely clear to the Iranian nation that the enemy tries to use elections to undermine Iran's national security. He added that the people and government officials should safeguard elections as a divine blessing. He also urged everybody to be completely vigilant in the face of the enemy's efforts to undermine national security.
His Eminence said that the recent events in the world of Islam show the importance of the role of the people, further reiterating: "Three decades ago, the Iranian nation proved the greatness and power that nations enjoy and it managed to give rise to a transformation in the history of the region and the world. And today other regional nations have stepped into the arena and they are resolving insoluble problems with their presence."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: "Who would have thought the puppets of America and the Zionists in the region would be overthrown one after the other?"
