Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this evening with a group of students and representatives of scientific, cultural, political, revolutionary and professional organizations from across the country.
Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that revolutions all over the world have deviated from their original path and described the Islamic Revolution in Iran as an exception. He stressed: "The great Revolution in Iran was carried out with specific goals. As an exception in history, the Islamic Revolution is pursuing the original goals and values without any deviation."
His Eminence said that Islamic tendencies, opposition to the arrogant powers, preserving the independence of the country, bringing about dignity for human beings, defending the oppressed and making progress are the goals of the Islamic Revolution. He stressed that the Islamic Revolution relies on the faith, beliefs and emotions of the people and added: "This straight path is being continued without any deviation after the passage of 32 years."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated that the firm determination and courage of the young generation guarantees the continuation of the revolutionary path. Addressing Iranian youth, he added: "A country that has reached this position relying on its power and resistance should continue moving forward and it should set a perfect model for Islamic communities. And you enthusiastic and determined youth are capable of fulfilling this important and historic duty."
His Eminence referred to the deviation of popular revolutions from their original path in the recent centuries and added: "The French Revolution is an example of great popular revolutions which was started against the royal system of the time, but it strayed away from the original popular goals. In the end, after all those hardships, a royal system was re-established in France."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the establishment of the United States of America and described it as another example of popular revolutions which strayed away from the original goals.
He added: "The Russian Revolution is another example which enjoyed ideological foundations but strayed away from the original goals since the early years. And the people were eliminated from political equations and revolutionary goals."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that certain revolutions in the region, in North Africa and in Latin America which were carried out in the late 1950s and early 1960s are other examples of popular revolutions that deviated from the original path. "The Islamic Revolution in Iran has been an exception over the past few centuries because it has managed to powerfully follow its original goals and principles with solidarity and increasing dynamism."
Elsewhere in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the enemies of Islam and the Revolution are continuing their activities as a unified front. He further advised student organizations to keep this point in mind while fulfilling their revolutionary responsibilities.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the assassination of Iranian scientists and said that the main goal of the assassinations is to thwart the scientific movement in the country. "The camp of the arrogant powers pursues its enmity towards the Islamic Revolution on several integrated levels. Economic sanctions, promoting moral corruption, shaking the economic foundations are among their activities and intimidating Iranian scientists and thwarting the scientific movement of the country are a step to complement this large-scale plan."
His Eminence reiterated: "If terrorist activities of the enemies are analyzed carefully from this perspective, one's sense of responsibility would get stronger and it would become clear that the enemy is determined to thwart the scientific progress of the country in a unified effort and make the Iranian nation suffer from backwardness in this regard."
Ayatollah Khamenei added: "Today one of the policies of the arrogant powers is to deliberately promote moral corruption in our society and among our youth. Therefore, it is necessary to counter this policy."
His Eminence stressed the need to reform humanities and said that there is no need to imitate the west as far as humanities are concerned. He added: "Our intellectual principles are different from materialistic principles. For this reason, imitating western humanities in the country cannot solve any of our problems."
