Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution toured an exhibition of strategic technologies this morning. The visit lasted more than 5 hours.The exhibition included inventions, products and scientific and technological achievements by Iranian researchers and scientists in the area of aerospace technology, micro electronic technology, new energy sources, nanotechnology, interdisciplinary technologies, stem cells, information technology, biotechnology, medicinal herbs and Iranian medicine.
The national project to design and develop a pilot nuclear power plant based on magnetic confinement fusion was among the scientific achievements displayed in the area of new sources of energy. Nuclear fusion is one of the most advanced methods of producing electricity, which is predicted to replace nuclear fission in a few years. The Islamic Republic of Iran is at the research stage of this project, and it will start building a nuclear fusion power plant in the near future.
Amirkabir Supercomputer is among the large-scale national projects displayed at the exhibition. This domestically made supercomputer was designed and manufactured in Amirkabir University of Technology. Iran is among the 10 countries which have achieved the technology required for manufacturing this supercomputer. This supercomputer has the processing power of 89 billion operations per second.
A satellite manufactured by the scientists and researchers of Amirkabir University of Technology was also on show at the exhibition.
The linear accelerator which produces X-rays for treating cancerous tumors, the machine for producing radioisotopes, the magnetic drilling machine and the unmanned "Zohal" aircraft - which has been designed for the purpose of surveillance and aerial photography - were among the scientific and technological achievements displayed at the exhibition.
Moreover, two domestically made satellites called "Navid" and "Zafar" were also on display. These two satellites are ready to be put into orbit.
The plan for manufacturing a capsule which can be used for sending living creatures into space was on display in the aerospace section. This capsule will be used in the near future to send a living creature into space.
In another section of the exhibition, the achievements of Iranian stem cell researchers were displaced. In this section researchers explained different stages of cloning to the Leader.
Also on display in the medical section were a digital mammography machine, a laser urology machine and an MRI machine among different other things.
The latest achievements in the area of medicinal herbs and Iranian medicine were displayed in another section of the exhibition.
