Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with a group of Muslim intellectuals and foreign guests attending the 24th International Islamic Unity Conference. Speaking at the meeting, the Leader said that the world of Islam is going through a historic and very sensitive stage. He reiterated that appropriate familiarity with this sensitive stage, strengthening religious faith of the people, preserving unity, refusing to be intimidated by America's power and trusting the divine promise of assistance will prepare the way for the victory of the massive popular movement in the world of Islam.Explaining the importance of the current conditions of the world of Islam, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated: "The current historical stage is important in that it can solve the problems of the world of Islam if it is understood and managed appropriately. But if this historical stage is not understood and utilized appropriately, it will prepare the ground for new problems for the world of Islam."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the current presence of millions of people on the scene is unique in the world of Islam. He reiterated: "The victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran was because of the millions-strong presence of the people, and this millions-strong presence would not have been possible in the absence of religious faith."
His Eminence said that persistence of the people until achieving ultimate victory is another important factor and added: "The enemies are trying to describe the popular movement in Egypt, Tunisia and other parts of the world of Islam as non-Islamic. This is while this popular movement is definitely Islamic, and it should be strengthened."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that America is the main problem of the world of Islam, further stressing: "This problem should be solved in the world of Islam, and America should be weakened. And the only way is to have faith in God and His promise."
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the events of the early Islamic era have been a complex and artistic picture of the different conditions of the Islamic Ummah up until today. He referred to the conditions of the Muslims in the Battle of the Trench and added: "Just as some people were intimidated by the power of the enemy while others stood up against the enemy relying on their faith in the divine promise of assistance, so in the current conditions some people are intimidated by the military, diplomatic, propaganda and financial power of America and believe that it is not possible to confront it. This is while God has solemnly promised to help those who help His cause."
His Eminence said that America has grown weaker compared to previous years. He reiterated: "Resistance and progressive movement is the result of having faith in divine promises, while distrust of God results in intimidation and surrendering to the enemy."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the remarkable achievements and victories of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the past 33 years are the result of having faith in divine promises. "Apart from breaking the economic sanctions and emerging victorious out of the eight-year imposed war, the Iranian nation has achieved remarkable advances in the arena of science and technology, and the advances in nuclear technology are an example."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iran's scientific advances, especially in nuclear technology, are due to selfless efforts of the young and faithful scientists of the country. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has managed to make progress in nuclear technology in spite of all the pressure that has been exerted on it.
His Eminence reiterated: "The uproar caused by westerners is no longer effective because they have fallen behind the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the passage of time is to the benefit of Iran."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that the successful experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran is an experience for all Islamic countries. He added: "Today the Egyptian people, who are wise and enjoy a brilliant Islamic record, are present on the scene. Care should be taken not to let the enemy divert the popular movement and install a person affiliated to the regime of the Egyptian pharaoh."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that safeguarding the popular movement of the Egyptian people is primarily a duty of the people, religious scholars, intellectuals and luminaries of Egypt. He added that the entire Islamic Ummah also has a responsibility to safeguard the Egyptian movement. "Muslims nations' sense of responsibility towards one another is the most important effect of Islamic unity."
His Eminence stressed that fomenting discord among Muslims and focusing on Shia-Sunni differences are the plots of the enemies which should be foiled. He added: "The current movement will continue in the world of Islam. We have faith in the divine promise, and we are sure that God will help faithful people."
