Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with thousands of the youth and students of Qom province. Speaking during the meeting, His Eminence described insight as the basis of long-term planning aimed at maintaining national power.
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the necessity of national insight and said that the long-term planning of the enemies of Islam and the Revolution is a fact which cannot be denied.
He further reiterated: "Different proofs bear testimony to the fact that the events which sometimes happen in the country, including the events which happened in the year 1378 and the fitna of the year 1388, are the result of the long-term and medium-term plans of the enemies."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the events which happened last year provided an opportunity for the enemies to resume their plans and added: "Of course in the fitna of the year 1388, they tried to act by considering all the aspects, but by Allah's favor, they failed. Of course they must have failed considering the presence and vigilance of the Iranian nation."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the continuance of the plots of the arrogant powers despite their constant failures is a sign of the fact that the global bullying powers have not lost their hope and added: "Considering this fact, the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation should seek to develop long-term plans in a vigilant way."
Ayatollah Khamenei described insight as a necessary condition for achieving success and added: "Even if all other conditions are met, achieving goals in the absence of insight would be practically impossible."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that there are two levels to insight, namely insight at the level of principles and insight in the face of events. He added: "Insight at the level of principles means understanding basic monotheistic concepts and adopting a monotheistic world view."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to insight in the face of different events as another level of the concept of insight and touched on different aspects of this type of insight.
He said: "According to the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.), insight means observing the events in a correct and accurate manner, contemplating on those events and evaluating the issues and events."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that closing one's eyes to realities is another source of human mistakes and added: "We should be vigilant and not look at different events in a superficial manner. This will help one achieve insight through thinking, contemplation and accurate evaluation of matters."
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the failure of a group of the companions of Imam Ali (a.s.) during the battle of Siffin as a clear instance of lack of insight.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that some people lacked insight during the events which happened after last year's glorious presidential elections and said: "There were some people who raised the issue of vote rigging in the elections as a result of their lack of insight. It is natural that those who made such claims should have presented evidence for their claims. After presenting evidence through the channels specified by the law, they should have followed up their complaint so that the truth would have become clear after reviewing and investigating the results. But those who made claims of vote rigging did not follow this legal path."
He added: "Despite the fact that the legal period for presenting complaints was extended at that time and it was stressed that the votes should be recounted in front of the representatives of the complaining candidates, they did not accept this legal solution. Therefore, it became obvious that they intend to defy the law."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further reiterated: "Gaining insight is not a difficult task. Everyone can obtain insight. For instance, if there are people who do not follow the logical legal paths which lie ahead of them and do things which are harmful for the nation, the country and our national interests, they are condemned by anybody who is impartial."
His Eminence described lack of vigilance as another factor leading to lack of insight and added: "Sometimes human beings suffer from lack of insight in important matters. Such slips are not considered as sins, but should they continue, they are an instance of lack of insight and are considered as unacceptable."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that creating doubts in the country's political atmosphere is the most important strategy of the enemies and added: "The camp of arrogance uses different tools and advanced methods in order to try to distort the realities of the country."
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated: "The youth shoulder a heavy duty in this regard. This is because they should identify the truth in this atmosphere of ambiguity and fill the atmosphere in which they are present with insight."
His Eminence touched on the complicated propaganda methods of the camp of arrogance, including mixing justice and injustice in order to deceive the people and create doubts, further adding: "Some people inside the country repeat and reflect the enemies' propaganda consciously or unconsciously."
Ayatollah Khamenei said: "Some of the individuals who have distanced themselves from the path of the Revolution and are at the service of anti-Revolution elements, were extremist revolutionaries during a particular period. But they were stuck in the present situation due to certain reasons."
Ayatollah Khamenei further touched on the reasons behind the U-turn made by these people and added: "Ignoring God and one's duties will expose one to such changes and great problems."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that it is necessary to differentiate between those who are opposed to the Islamic Republic and those who suffer from lack of vigilance and added: "During the events which happened last year, there were some people who did not realize that the fitna was aimed at overthrowing the government, and they contributed to that uproar."
His Eminence reminded the audience of the role of the youth, especially the youth of Qom, in the victory of the Islamic Revolution and said: "During different stages of the Islamic movement and the Islamic Revolution, the youth of Qom were always at the forefront, and they have always emerged victorious out of divine tests."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the role that the youth of Qom played during the early years of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the face of the enemies' plots, further stating: "Using complex plans that had been prepared by Iranian experts, the opposing camp wanted to turn Qom - which is the center of the Islamic Revolution - into an anti-revolutionary city. But these plots were foiled due to the epical movement of the people of Tabriz and the vigilance of the people of Qom, especially the youth, who analyzed the situation appropriately."
Ayatollah Khamenei added: "The opposing camp implemented the same plan once again in Qom after the demise of Imam Khomeini (r.a.). But the plan failed again due to the vigilance of the youth of Qom."
Elsewhere in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the disastrous consequences of the movement of the western world during the past three centuries and added: "Abusing the power and wealth that they had gained through science and technology, those who once wanted to bring about peace and welfare for humanity - through such schools of thought as humanism, liberalism and democracy - gave rise to crimes that are almost unprecedented in the history of mankind, and they continue doing so."
His Eminence said that staging tens of coups in different countries and cold-blooded murdering of Iraqi and Afghan people are the results of the gap that has developed between the western world and spirituality. "Such realties and crimes show that the western domineering powers are the enemy of humanity."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the movement of the Iranian nation as the opposite of the misguided movement of the west during the past three centuries. "By Allah's favor, the youth - who pursue knowledge through divine thoughts and take material and spiritual wellbeing of their nation and the entire humanity into consideration in their plans and actions - will continue their auspicious movement until they achieve all the goals of Islam and the Revolution," he reiterated.
