Leader Meets President of Guinea-Bissau

 Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with Malam Bacai Sanha the President of Guinea-Bissau and his accompanying delegation. Speaking during the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the expansion of relations with Islamic countries.

He further reiterated that the Islamic Ummah has great capacities and added that Muslims should stay united wherever they are.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that all Muslims of the world will benefit from proper cooperation between Muslim governments and nations.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the importance of Africa and said that for many years the domineering powers created many problems for Africa, particularly the countries of West Africa. "But today the nations are vigilant, and they are seeking to expand their cooperation in various fields."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes cooperation with African countries and added: "Unlike the domineering powers, Iran can help Guinea-Bissau make progress on the basis of its national interests."

His Eminence referred to the scientific and industrial achievements of the Islamic Republic after the Revolution and reiterated that such progress was made thanks to the Islamic spirit of the Iranian nation and national self-confidence. "And any nation that is self-confident and makes efforts will achieve such progress."

Ayatollah Khamenei further stressed the importance of peace and security in Africa, particularly the western parts, and said that efforts should be made to achieve progress and development in that region.

In this meeting, which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President of Guinea-Bissau said that he had been informed about some of the scientific and industrial capabilities of the Islamic Republic during his visit.

He said that such achievements are amazing and added that the capabilities of the Iranian nation are a source of pride for Muslim nations. He also stated that efforts were made during the visit to expand relations between the two countries.
