Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz and his accompanying delegation. In this meeting, His Eminence said that establishing relations and cooperating with Islamic countries is a basic principle in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic. He further expressed hope that the Mauritanian President's visit to Iran will help expand the cooperation between the two countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the decision made by the government of Mauritania to cut off diplomatic relations with the Zionist regime and said: "This measure was a lesson for some Arab governments because the Zionist regime poses a great threat to the world of Islam and is constantly seeking to increase its domination over the region."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza inflicted a wound on the body of Islamic Ummah and expressed his dissatisfaction with the stance taken by some Islamic governments in this regard.
Ayatollah Khamenei said: "Undoubtedly, the nations of the region will witness the collapse of the Zionist regime one day. The timing of this event will depend on the actions of Islamic countries."
He further touched on the greed and domineering motives of western countries and said: "Western countries have never wanted to cooperate with or help the Islamic countries. And they have brought about corruption and destruction wherever they have stepped in."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the US is seeking to gain control over Africa and stated: "The US is after establishing a base for its armed forces in Africa which is a great danger. And African nations and governments should not let their homeland and country turn into a base for Americans."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further referred to the necessity for promoting the international position of Islamic countries and stated: "The Islamic Ummah needs to develop true unity and brotherhood among Islamic countries and not rely on international domineering powers if it wants to achieve the position it deserves."
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that Iran is ready to share its experience in scientific and industrial fields with Islamic countries, including Mauritania.
In this meeting that was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz referred to the progress of the Islamic Republic in scientific, industrial, and technological fields and said that such progress is a source of honor for Muslim countries. He also said that the relations between the two countries should be expanded in different fields.
The President of Mauritania thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its efforts to promote peace and security in the region and the world.
