In a meeting with the citizens of Mazandaran province held in the city of Chalous, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei described foresight as the most important need of the country and reiterated: "Foresight will not allow sedition to lead anyone astray."
His Eminence added: "Foresight is like a compass that shows the direction in today's confusing social situations. If someone does not have this compass, he may suddenly realize that he is besieged by the enemies."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the foresight of the nation and the vigilance of the youth will help foil the enemies' plots and added: "In the absence of foresight, even well-intentioned people may be led astray."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that foresight is a prerequisite for distinguishing enemies from friends and necessary for identifying and removing the obstacles. He advised all people, youth, clergymen, academics, and seminarians to "equip themselves with awareness and foresight".
His Eminence stated that the nations that are interested in Islam and the Islamic Republic became concerned about some of the post-election events. "The 85 percent turnout rate in the election made Muslim nations cheerful. But those who loved the Islamic Republic got concerned when the enemy started to spread rumors and slanders and caused turmoil in the country in order to ruin this great political victory and impressive turnout. This shows the continuation of support for the Islamic Republic's thought in the world of Islam even after the passage of thirty years."
The Leader said that mixing up justice with injustice in order to make them indistinguishable for justice seekers is an old strategy used by the enemies of Islam. He added: "Foresight is the most important way to confront these seditious efforts."
Ayatollah Khamenei further touched upon the criteria for distinguishing the right path from the wrong the path. He said that the arrogant powers and the Zionist regime are the sworn enemies of the nation and the Islamic Republic and added that any movement that annoys them is a movement on the right path. "And any movement which delights them and which they emphasize in their propaganda and policies is incorrect," he noted.
He further stressed: "Many mistakes could be identified and rectified on the basis of the happy or angry reaction of the foreigners to the events which take place."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic has a republican and an Islamic aspect to it and touched upon the true meaning of a republican system. He said: "The involvement of the people and their sense of responsibility in forming the system and electing the officials are among the factors which constitute a republican system."
His Eminence added that another sign of a republican system is that the officials should have a close relationship with the people. He said: "In a republican system, there should be no trace of aristocracy, aristocratic attitudes, and inattention to the people in the behavior of the officials."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that respecting the people's beliefs and values, and paying attention to their identity and personality are other signs of a republican system.
Ayatollah Khamenei further touched upon the characteristics of an Islamic system and said that an Islamic system is founded on religion, sharia, and moral principles. He further stated: "In the Islamic Republic, the different republican aspects of the establishment are backed by Islamic and moral aspects as well."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that any action that is done to improve the people's lives or strengthen the foundations of the establishment will be rewarded by God.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic is a system which is unique and unprecedented after the early stages of Islam.
He added that the hostility of the autocratic and domineering powers of the world towards the Islamic Republic is natural. "But the result of their enmity during the past thirty years has been the great progress of the Iranian nation. And by Allah's favor, such progress will hopefully continue," he noted.
