Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with Hugo Chavez and his accompanying delegation. Speaking at the meeting the Leader reiterated: "Through expanding cooperation between the two countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Venezuela must prepare the ground for further strengthening of the newly established resistance front."
His Eminence described spiritual strength as a requirement for resistance against the enemies and added: "If there is the spirit of invincibility and resistance, there will be no defeat in the practical arena."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution touched on America's failures in different parts of the world and reiterated: "America's consecutive failures and the fact it is losing its power are undeniable realities showing that the world is changing."
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the failures of the US in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and Palestine and said that America has incurred great expenses in these counties. He further added: "Compared to other parts of the world, America's failures are more serious in the case of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
"The situation of Latin America has also changed. In that region, which used to be known as America's backyard, a power has been established that is growing on a daily basis," His Eminence stated.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the achievements of the resistance front are due to human efforts and divine assistance and stated that these efforts should be increased in order for the resistance front to become increasingly stronger.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that political cooperation is one of the necessities for gaining more power and stated: "Besides political cooperation, the two countries should increase their cooperation in industrial, economic, financial, and transportation sectors."
In this meeting which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mr. Chavez expressed his delight at meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei and described his negotiations with the Iranian President as positive. He further added: "During the negotiations, Iran and Venezuela reached good agreements such as the formation of a common bank."
The Venezuelan President further stressed that this common bank can turn into a powerful economic institution and expand into other countries. "The only way to oppose the enemies' plots is to increase unity, cooperation, and power," he added.
Mr. Chavez said that a special committee has been formed which will present reports every two months on fulfillment of the agreements between the two countries. He said that the committee will help solve problems and accelerate the process of fulfilling the agreements between the two countries.
