Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with the head and officials of the judiciary. Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the administration of justice as the pivotal duty of the judiciary and added that it could be achieved through observing the law.
His Eminence touched on the post-election disputes in the country and stressed: "Resolving the issues will be possible through legal channels. All elites, political activists, and the winning and losing sides must avoid provoking the people and undermining the unity of the nation."
This meeting was held on the occasion of the Haft-e Tir bombing (June 28, 1981), in which Ayatollah Beheshti, the head of the judiciary, and more than 70 other government officials were assassinated. "The most important characteristic of this event was the martyrdom of a number of prominent figures, high-ranking managers, ministers, MPs, and political elites for the sake of the lofty goals of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the main goal of the assassinations at the beginning of the Revolution was to strip the Islamic Revolution of its prominent figures. "Contrary to what the enemies thought, the Islamic Revolution was not harmed despite these assassinations, and its foundations - that is, its relationship with the public - were strengthened," he reiterated.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the prominent role of Shahid Beheshti in the Islamic Revolution and establishing the judiciary, further adding: "The Judiciary has made good achievements during the last 30 years, especially the past 10 years."
His Eminence said that administration of justice is the main duty of the judiciary and reiterated: "Observing the law is the criterion for justice. And if everyone acts in accordance with the law in society, administration of justice will be achieved."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that administration of justice is very difficult and requires numerous prerequisites. He added: "What is most important is the outcome, and if this outcome is justice, we will be proud before Allah the Exalted, the people, and ourselves."
The Leader touched on the obstacles in the way of administering justice and added: "The most difficult part of administering justice is when we are faced with powerful and bullying people, in which case, we must stand up to these people and only take Allah the Exalted and the law into consideration."
Referring to the events after the presidential election, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the conflicts can be settled through legal channels and stated that provoking people, especially the youth, and pitching them against one another should be avoided by everyone. "Despite these differences of opinion, the Iranian people are united and have formed close relations with the Islamic Republic," he noted.
He added that the high turnout in the presidential election is indicative of the people's trust in the Islamic Republic.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the result of lawlessness is much worse than causing displeasure to some people by enforcing the law. He further added that the Iranian nation is a faithful and vigilant nation and said that there are no problems between the people and the Islamic Republic. "The political elites and figures should pay careful attention to what they do and say," he noted.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the temptations and interfering policies of the international oppressive powers will prove futile provided the nation and political elites are unanimous and united.
Referring to the interfering policies of some European and American officials in regard to Iran's internal affairs, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "As you see, some of the political leaders - both American and European leaders - make absurd remarks about our country and behave as if they have no problems in their own countries. They should know that wherever they enter the political scene, that place is considered polluted by the Iranian people."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that such remarks will prove to be counterproductive. "These governments not only did not support the Iranian nation, but also helped their enemies during the 8-year war when the Iranian people suffered several crimes and had chemical bombs dropped on their houses."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution further referred to the merciless crimes of the US and certain European governments in Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, and Pakistan and stated: "There is no sign of mercy and compassion for humanity in what these governments do. And the people are aware of the intentions which lie behind their current support for the Iranian people and certain figures inside the country."
