In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
All praise is due to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may peace and greetings be upon our Master, Abul-Qasim al-Mustafa Muhammad, and upon his untainted, pure, chosen Progeny, the guides and the guided ones, particularly the Remnant of God on earth.
Welcome dear, esteemed families of the Martyrs of Security. The significant rights that your martyrs and their families — you yourselves, their fathers, mothers, spouses, and children — have over the Iranian nation are truly indescribable. God willing, this meeting, which is illuminated by your presence and the warm spirit of these brothers, will help our hearts become even more attuned to the truth of God's grace and favor upon the Iranian nation.
How can we comprehend the value of the "Martyrs of Security?” We can understand this by considering the significance and value of "security." Once we recognize and comprehend how important security is for the country, we can then appreciate the importance of those who safeguard it, whether they are from the police force, Basij, or intelligence agencies. We regard such martyrs to be among the most superior martyrs on the path of truth. This is the reality of the matter.
Security is undoubtedly one of the most important needs of any country or society. If there is no security in society, nothing else is possible: no economy, no science, no progress, no family. Security is, in fact, the foundation for all the means and ways that lead to the progress of a nation and a country. That’s how important security is. Society’s psychological peace is founded on security. The opportunity for education and the progress of the youth are founded on security. Therefore, it is a great blessing from God.
You can see how Almighty God elevates the status of security to such a high degree in the Holy Quran that He reminds Muslims of it as a great blessing and favor, "Therefore let them worship the Lord of this House who has fed them [and saved them] from hunger and made them secure from fear" (106:3-4). In other words, worship God Who has given you these great blessings. He has granted you security and the means to live a safe, secure life. This underscores the importance of security. So if this issue is that important, then it is not surprising if some self-sacrificing individuals — martyrs — are martyred for this cause. The status of these martyrs is very high too.
Wherever there is no security or protectors of security, there will be evildoing. This is a general rule. So the scope of the mission of our dear young people who are busy working in various fields for security, as I mentioned, is very broad. They are all recipients of this divine grace, favor, and blessing from the Lord and are considered to be some of the best people.
One person may commit some villainous act at the border, another does a villainous act in the streets; someone does a villainous act by robbing homes and shops, another commits villainous acts by spreading rumors; one person does a villainous act by committing murder, another commits a villainous act by smuggling drugs or weapons. All of these things are considered to be forms of villainy. Anyone who stands up to prevent any of these things or similar acts can rightfully be called a "Protector of Security" or a "Guardian of Security," and this great honor belongs to them. In all of these cases, it’s these dear individuals who shield us, confront the danger, and take action.
There is one point to pay attention to here, and that point is, “What is the important element that is needed to protect the country’s security?” In various analyses, some people have a strange understanding of the issue and imagine that if we want the country to be secure, we shouldn’t go after the tools that could provoke the [Arrogant] Powers. For example, [they say], "Why should we have a missile with such and such a range that may provoke them?" They think that they can ensure the country’s security in this way. Actually, they believe that if you want the country to be secure, you need to be weak and shouldn’t produce the tools that bring you power. Some people think like this. This is wrong.
What protects a country’s security is its "national power," its strength. The country must be strong in all aspects: in science, the economy, defense capabilities, and weaponry. These factors maintain and ensure a country’s security. Whenever we have failed to move toward producing the tools of power due to the misguided policies of our rulers, the enemy has gained dominance over us. The nation was beset by such an affliction during the Qajar and Pahlavi eras. They failed to make the nation strong.
Thus, you see that during World War I and World War II — neither of which were related to Iran — our country was occupied despite declaring its neutrality. This is what happens when a country is unable to defend itself. This sin of incompetent rulers — some incompetent, others treacherous and subservient to this or that power — that they make our nation weak with an inability to defend itself is unforgivable. [When this happens], it’s obvious our security will be compromised. The way to ensure security is to be powerful. The Iranian nation and the country’s officials must understand this. We must become stronger.
I have repeated this many times that we must become stronger. Our nation needs to become stronger every day. Iran must be strong in order to defend itself, ensure its own security and progress, and help others with the blessings that come from this progress and strength. A strong Iran needs strength. Of course, strength is not just about building weapons. Scientific strength, political competence, and managerial proficiency all contribute to bringing security, and they ensure the safety of the society. Therefore, it is our duty and the duty of all officials to strengthen the country through education, weaponry, and by advancing in various ways.
An important point regarding security that I would like to address here while I’m with you, the dear families of our martyrs, is the issue of our society’s psychological security, which isn’t paid enough attention to. Society’s psychological security is ensured when anxiety isn’t instilled in people and fear and doubt aren’t created in people. This is very important. Some people create doubt and fear in others with the news they share, the analyses they make, or their interpretations of events. This is rejected by Almighty God. The Quran is clear on this matter, "If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is a disease and the agitators in the city do not desist …" (33:60). The "agitators" refers to such people. They are the ones who create anxiety and fear in people’s hearts. Almighty God tells the Prophet (pbuh) that if these people don’t stop this behavior, "We will give you authority [to take action] against them" (33:60). [In other words], We will command you to go after them and punish them.
That’s how important psychological security is. The agitators are people who disrupt society’s psychological security. They spread rumors, and some people give incorrect analyses of various issues due to their ill intent.
Those who use social media should pay attention to these matters. Not everything that comes to one’s mind should be shared on the social media. Think about what the effects might be, and how it will affect people, their thoughts, and their morale. Those who wish to make decisions regarding the social media — a topic which is frequently mentioned and discussed — should pay attention to this aspect of the matter. They need to consider how a wrong analysis, a false news report, or a misinterpretation of an issue may instill anxiety, doubt, or fear in the people.
These are things that undermine society’s psychological security. When speaking about security, the issue of psychological security is important. Officials in the country have a duty to ensure not only the security of the society and safety in our streets, markets, borders, and people’s homes, but they are also obligated to safeguard the psychological security of the people. This is a part of their responsibilities.
The enemies use this as well. Today, the enemies of nations and countries that covet the interests of those they can target don’t take action using just conventional weapons and hard warfare. They use soft warfare as well. One aspect of soft warfare is how it creates psychological insecurity in society. This is one aspect and you have seen it. Over the past few years, you have observed how enemies have used the social media to advance their intents. This needs to be taken into consideration. This was about security issues.
The families of the Martyrs of Security should be proud and hold their heads high. Your youth were martyred — of course, they have gained the highest divine ranks — and they have left you in mourning. Your hearts, souls, and feelings have suffered due to the loss of these beloved individuals. That’s true but be proud. They were on the right path, they were martyred for a good cause, they stood firm for something important, and it is due to their efforts that the country has security. If it weren’t for them, if the protectors of the country’s security weren’t present, the Iranian nation would be faced with countless problems. We should all appreciate them, and you should take pride in them too.
Regarding issues pertaining to the malicious Zionist regime, I will briefly touch upon two points before moving on. First of all, there is a significant shortcoming in the world regarding the malicious, sinister Zionist regime. Governments and nations — especially governments — and global organizations like the United Nations and others like them truly aren’t doing their duty with regard to the issue of confronting the Zionist regime. What that regime has done and continues to do in Gaza and in Lebanon are some of the most horrific war crimes. Of course, war is undoubtedly difficult, but war also has its own rules, laws, and limits. Just because one side is fighting another side doesn’t mean they can trample over all these limits and crush them as the criminal gang ruling over occupied Palestine is doing. The world must stand against them. Governments, especially Muslim governments, must stand against them. We’re not talking about whether that regime should be helped or not. Helping them is one of the gravest sins. Even the smallest amount of assistance given to the Zionist regime is one of the gravest, most abhorrent sins. There is no doubt about that. No, they must stand against it [that regime] to prevent these crimes.
A global coalition — a political, economic, and if necessary, a military coalition — must be formed to confront the malicious Zionist regime that’s carrying out the most horrific war crimes today. Now, "war crimes" is a criminal term in today's global norms. That is to say, war crimes are condemned worldwide today. It’s not just us who condemn them. No, the entire world and all international courts — those that have been rightfully established and those that haven’t — condemn war crimes. Is there a war crime worse than this? Ten thousand children have been killed and ten thousand or more women have been martyred? We must stand against them [the Zionist regime]. We call upon the global community, especially the Islamic world, to form a global coalition against the Zionist regime.
The second topic relates to their evildoing two nights ago. Well, they [the Zionist regime] made a wrong move. And of course, they keep magnifying what they’ve done. Their magnification [of the matter] is wrong, but also bear in mind that downplaying it is wrong too. If we say, “No, it wasn’t anything. It wasn’t important,” that too is wrong. The Zionist regime’s miscalculations must be stopped. They’re making a miscalculation with respect to Iran. They don't know Iran. They don't know the Iranian youth. They don't know the Iranian people. They still haven't been able to correctly understand the power, capability, initiative, and determination of the Iranian people. We must make them understand these things.
Our officials should be the ones to assess and precisely apprehend what needs to be done [to show the power of the Iranian people to the enemy]. They must do whatever is in the best interests of this country and nation. They [the Zionist regime] must be made to realize who the Iranian people are and what the Iranian youth are like. The mindset, motivation, courage, and preparedness that currently exist in the Iranian nation are the very things that create security. We must maintain these.
We ask Almighty God to keep us steadfast on the path of truth, the path of Islam, and on the path of the magnanimous Imam [Khomeini (ra)], God willing. May He protect you, our dear youth, for us.
May God’s greetings, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
