In this decree, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution once again expressed his deep regret on the passing of Hujjat al-Islam Ale-Hashem and praised his exemplary behavior with people and the valuable services he provided.
The following is the full text of Imam Khamenei’s decree:
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Dear Hujjat al-Islam Haj Sheikh Ahmad Motahhari Asl (may his blessings continue)
With deep regret over the loss of the esteemed, hardworking, outstanding Friday Prayer Leader of Tabriz - the late, forgiven Martyr of Service, Hujjat al-Islam Ale-Hashem (may God be pleased with him), whose loss is undoubtedly felt by the people of Azerbaijan - and with praise for the deceased’s public and service-oriented approach, I hereby appoint you, his companion and colleague who has, praise God, been recognized for his good intentions and actions, as my representative in that province and as the Friday Prayer Leader of Tabriz.
I expect the position of the Friday Prayer Leader in Tabriz to be appropriately carried out by someone who possesses the distinguished characteristics of the faithful, brave, revolutionary people of that city. Knowledge, sincerity, empathy, and clarification should be the foundation of interaction with the faithful, spirited people, especially the youth. Close ties with scholars, academics, intellectuals, and revolutionary groups should always be kept in mind while also showing empathy toward veterans and those who are underprivileged in society. I pray for your success in this role.
