Imam Khamenei agrees to the pardoning or reduction of sentences of a number of convicts on the occasions of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir

On the auspicious occasions of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir, Imam Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has approved of the pardoning, reducing, or converting of the sentences of 2,654 people who had been convicted in Public Courts, Revolutionary Courts, by the Governmental Discretionary Punishment Organization, or by the Judiciary Organization of the Armed Forces.

On this occasion, the Head of the Judiciary, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mohseni EjeI, sent a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution requesting permission to pardon, reduce, or convert the sentences of these convicts who had been assessed and identified as meeting the necessary conditions set by the Judiciary’s Central Commission on Pardoning. This request was accepted by Imam Khamenei in conformity with Clause 11 of Article 110 of the Constitution.
