Leader Meets with Pakistani President

 The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei met this afternoon with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari. In this meeting, His Eminence referred to the strong cultural and historical ties between the two countries and said that the cordial relations between the Iranian and Pakistani nations are the main cause of the expansion of ties between the two countries.

In this meeting, His Eminence referred to the strong cultural and historical ties between the two countries and said that the cordial relations between the Iranian and Pakistani nations are the main cause of the expansion of ties between the two countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the expansion of relations between the two countries and said that these relations can be further improved based on the two countries' capacities.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the security of Pakistan and the Islamic Republic as interrelated and also referred to the Pakistan-Iran-Turkey railway and the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline as important projects to be completed by the two countries.

He further expressed hope that these projects could be carried out in the best way through determination and wisdom on the part of the Pakistani President.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that cooperation among neighboring Islamic countries will increase their power and reiterated that such power can bring about positive results in all areas.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said the interference of the US in other country's affairs will only worsen the situation and increase the problems of those countries and said that religious extremism has caused problems in some countries of the region, including Pakistan.

In this meeting, the President of Pakistan also referred to the strong ties between Iran and Pakistan and said that his country will make efforts to improve its relations with the Islamic Republic. He added that the projects developed by Iran and Pakistan will benefit the future generations in both countries.

Mr. Zardari added: "All countries have now realized that it might be possible to occupy countries or weaken nations, but it is not possible to wipe out nations."
