Head 1

West Asian & North African countries’ unity prevents interference of aggressive powers

Imam Khamenei met on Tuesday (October 3, 2023) with the participants in the International Islamic Unity Conference, ambassadors of Islamic countries, some government officials, and a group of people on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Imam Sadiq (pbuh).

During the meeting, Imam Khamenei said the reason behind plots hatched by aggressive powers to insult the Holy Quran is that they feel threatened by the teachings of the divine book.

Through unity and adopting a unified policy on fundamental issues, the Islamic countries will be able to deal with the interferences of the United States and other bullying, aggressive powers, he said.

He also likened the "normalization wager" with the Zionist regime to “betting on a losing horse”, saying such moves will only end in defeat as the Palestinian movement is more energetic and more prepared than ever and the Zionist regime is on the verge of annihilation.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution offered his good wishes on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Imam Sadiq (pbuh), saying mankind is incapable of understanding the Prophet’s noble personality or expressing his virtues in words.

He said all human beings are indebted to the "shining sun of the Great Prophet" because he, like a skilled and wise physician, presented mankind with the panacea for all major sources of pain such as poverty, ignorance, oppression, discrimination, lust, disbelief, aimlessness, moral corruption, and social harms.

Imam Khamenei also said "jihad in the way of God" is a way to pay the debt to Prophet Muhammad, adding, "The meaning of jihad is not limited to jihad with weapons, but rather, jihad in all fields, including science, politics, spirituality and ethics, and with jihad in these fields one can pay his respects to that sacred being as much as he can."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized that today, the hostility towards Islam is clearer than ever. He considered the desecration of the Holy Quran as an example of these hostilities. "You see an ignorant fool insulting [the Quran] and a government supports it. What this shows is that the problem is not merely what we see in the open."

He added, "We are not concerned about that ignorant person who condemns himself to the most severe punishments and execution in order to fulfill the objectives of the elements working behind-the-scenes. The issue is about the instigators of these crimes and despicable acts."

Imam Khamenei considered the vain plan of weakening the Quran with these measures to be illusory, while underlining that it has revealed what is inside the minds of the Holy Book’s enemies. "The Quran is a book of wisdom, knowledge, awakening, and hostility towards the Quran is actually hostility towards these lofty concepts. Of course, the Quran is a threat to the corrupt powers because it both condemns oppression and blames the oppressed people who succumb to oppression," he said.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that making justifications to insults made against the Quran, with repeated lies and false claims such as freedom of speech, dishonors the claimants. "In countries that allow the desecration of the Quran under the pretext of freedom of speech, are people also allowed to attack symbols that represent Zionism? What language can be used to prove more clearly that these [countries] are under the domination of the world’s cruel, criminal and plundering Zionists?" he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Imam Khamenei stated that the issue of Palestine and the usurpation and expulsion of a nation from their homes and the torture and killing of Palestinians as the main problem that the Islamic world has faced in the last few decades. "The Islamic Republic’s definite opinion is that the governments that take the gamble of normalizing relations with the Zionist regime will lose because this regime is perishable and as the Europeans say, they are betting on a losing horse."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution considered the Palestinian youth and the Palestinian anti-usurpation and anti-oppression movement to be livelier and more prepared today than ever. "God willing, this movement will come to fruition and as Imam [Khomeini] described the usurping regime as a cancer, this regime will be eradicated at the hands of the Palestinian people and the Resistance forces in the entire region."

The Leader also spoke about the issue of Islamic unity, emphasizing that the unity of Islamic countries in the West Asian and North African regions will prevent theft, coercion, and interference by the US. "Today, the US is harming the countries of the region both politically and economically. It is stealing Syria's oil and protecting and safeguarding the cruel, savage and bloodthirsty Daesh in its camps so it can bring it back out onto the field on the day of need," he said.

Imam Khamenei further noted that, "If we all become united and Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and the Persian Gulf countries adopt a single policy in fundamental and general issues, the oppressive powers cannot and will not dare interfere in our internal affairs and our foreign policies."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution remarked that, "As we have said many times before, we do not encourage war or military action. We avoid it. So, the invitation to come together and unite is to prevent Us's warmongering, since they start wars and all the wars in the region have foreign causes."

He highlighted the necessity of unity within the Islamic world, especially in the face of the continuous atrocities committed by the Zionist regime.

"Today, this regime is full of hatred not only toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also toward all the surrounding countries such as Egypt, Syria and Iraq," he said.

He hastened to add that the reason behind such hatred and anger is that those countries prevented the realization of the Zionists’ ultimate goal to occupy all the lands from the Niles to the Euphrates in various periods.

"They are full of hatred and anger. Of course, according to the Quran that says, ‘Be angry and die of this anger’, they are dying, and by the grace of God, this verse is being fulfilled with regard to the occupying regime."

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that President Ebrahim Raeisi, during a speech at the beginning of the meeting, pointed to the Prophet’s (pbuh) endeavors to build a society based on "monotheism" and "justice", saying standing up to enmities and resistance in the way of achieving goals are the most important teachings of the great Prophet (pbuh).
