Ayatollah Khamenei visiting the Shrine of Hazrat Zeinab
Six years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, no foreign trips were made by officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The crucial moments created by the Imposed War, and furthermore, the domestic crisis that used to happen one after the other made all forces within the government and the nation to spend their efforts entirely on a struggle against the anti-revolutionary rebels. Such a situation left no time for international trips.
At such conditions, the first presidential foreign trip by a president in the Islamic Republic of Iran was made when Ayatollah Khamenei, the then President of Iran, left Tehran for Damascus upon Hafez Assad’s invitation.
Ayatollah Khamenei visited the holy Shrine of the Great Lady Hazrat Zeinab in Zeinabiyeh of Damascus on September 6, 1984.
On the Occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Lady Zeinab (peace be upon her), Khamenei.ir published photos of Ayatollah Khamenei’s visit to the Shrine of Hazrat Zeinbab.
