Mr. Castro

It is possible to crush US dominance

Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei met with Fidel Castro, the president of the Republic of Cuba on Wednesday, May 9, 2001.

During the meeting, Imam Khamenei pointed out the basis of the Islamic thought of the Iranian nation in standing up against Arrogant Powers, especially the US. He explained that based on this thought, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers any fight and resistance against the Global Arrogance as the right thing to do.

Referring to the many commonalities that exist between Iran and Cuba in various fields, including their opposition to the US, the Leader added that, "The reason for the Iranian people's interest in Cuba is the country's resistance to American coercion, because according to the religious concepts of Islam, such a thing is regarded as a value".

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized that religion should serve a person and their needs. "Unfortunately, the Christian system today is indifferent towards justice and it fails to take any action in this regard, even though it is the most important human need," he stated, while outlining that Islamic vision and logic are the answers to humanity's needs.

Imam Khamenei pointed to the role of Islamic thought in solving the spiritual vacuity of today's world, while underlining the special importance that Islam attaches to justice. "Religious thinking is based on a deep philosophy and strong logic, and the reason for America's opposition to the Islamic Republic of Iran is due to the practical effects of Islamic thought around the world," he added.

He explained that the secret to Iran’s resistance against US pressures is the faith that people have in Islamic concepts and Islamic thought. "Based on our religious thoughts, we consider the US as an arrogant regime and we oppose a unipolar world."

Imam Khamenei also described the US regime as "weak" and "very vulnerable." "America's dominance can be crushed and if this is done, it will be a service to humanity and even the American people," he stated, while noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba can achieve such a thing through mutual cooperation.

During this meeting, which was also attended by Iranian President, Mohammad Khatami, Castro expressed great satisfaction with the meeting and his visit to Iran, while describing the Islamic Republic as a valuable, spiritual country and the spiritual center of the world.

"I found your words about Islam and the concepts of religion to be really impressive," he said, referring to the Leader’s statements.

Castro also pointed to the West’s discriminatory treatment of other civilizations and religions, underlining that, "Teaching about Islam and Islamic philosophy is not allowed in schools and universities in the West. They try to divert people's minds from reality through extensive propaganda and by spending large amounts of money."

Referring to the West’s coercive attitude, the President of Cuba said the behavior of the Western world, especially the United States, is uncivilized, contrary to what is often demonstrated in their propaganda. "The US government is very weak and we are closely witnessing its weakness," he asserted.

"We are not afraid of the US and 40 years after its revolution, the Cuban nation is stronger than ever. The two nations of Cuba and Iran can cripple the United States if they work in cooperation with one another," Castro added.
