Subtleties of divine guidance

We ask God to guide us. What does this “guide us” mean? One meaning is “presentation of the way.” Another meaning is “deliverance to the desired place.” What do we mean by saying, “Present the way to us?” This means, “Show us the way.” When we ask for guidance, this means, “Show us the way.” Deliverance to the desired place means taking the person’s hand and leading him/her to the desired location. For example, they say, “Guide this man to this house or that room.” What does this mean? It means, “Take his hand and take him to the place he wants to go. God’s guidance for human beings is neither of these two. It is something in between. Divine guidance is a combination of guidance and assistance. What do we mean by assistance? Assistance means giving someone opportunities and paving the way for them. In addition to these two things, when God is guiding someone in every stage where he/she is making an effort, has made a decision, and has taken a step, He makes it easy for him/her to take a step toward the next stage. Sometimes, God even helps people in places where they

may go astray.
