Leader Meets Algerian President

 The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting today with Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his accompanying delegation referred to the importance of cooperation among Islamic countries and said that Islamic countries should make mutual use of the resources and capacities available to them. His Eminence also reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria share various grounds for cooperation and expressed hopes that the Algerian president's trip to Tehran would act as a useful step towards further expansion of relations between the two countries.

Referring to the current situation of the Muslim world, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "The key to the problems of Muslim nations is resistance and faith on the part of the people and officials of these countries."

Ayatollah Khamenei also referred to the historic resistance of some nations in order to claim their rights and added: "Previous experience by Algeria, Northern African countries, and Iran shows that resistance of nations to defend and claim their rights always pays off."

His Eminence also reiterated that governments, as representatives of their nations, should seriously defend their nations' rights and stated: "The Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic officials have made great achievements despite all the pressure, threats, and sanctions and this is due to the resistance of the Iranian nation and the government officials against the domineering powers."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also referred to the scientific and technological achievements of the Iranian youth and stated: "All these achievements have been made in a situation where sanctions have been imposed against the Islamic Republic of Iran and these sanctions have all been beneficial to the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic."

Ayatollah Khamenei also described the achievements made by the Palestinian people, forming the democratic Hamas government, and the political and military victories of the Islamic resistance forces in Lebanon as a result of the faith and resistance of the Palestinian people and added: "If nations do not defend their obvious and natural rights, their rights will definitely get violated."

In this meeting which was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Mr. Bouteflika referred to his negotiations in Tehran and expressed hopes that the meeting would lead to further expansion of relations between the two countries. Also referring to the current situation of the Arab world and Muslim nations, Mr. Bouteflika stressed that Muslim nations should make efforts to defend their rights.
