Imam Khamenei approves pardoning a number of convicts

On the auspicious anniversary of the birth of Hazrat Hujjat ibn al-Hassan al-Askari (Imam Mahdi (a.j.)), the Savior of all of Humanity, and also on Islamic Republic Day - the 12th of Farvardin – Imam Khamenei agreed with pardoning or giving reduced sentences to 1,849 convicts charged in Common Law Courts, Islamic Revolutionary Courts and also those sentenced by the Military Judiciary Courts and the Governmental Discretionary Punishments Organization.

On the occasion of this joyous time, Hujjat al-Islam wal Muslimeen Raisi, the Head of the Judiciary Branch, sent a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution proposing the pardon or a reduction in the sentences of the above-mentioned convicts. These were people who were deemed eligible by the Judiciary’s Central Commission on Pardoning, and the proposal was endorsed by Imam Khamenei on the basis of Article 11 of the Constitution.
