In a televised speech on the occasion of the Maba’th of the Holy Prophet, Imam Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said, “The enemy’s job is distorting the truth and telling lies. They do this so brazenly and shamelessly that anyone listening to them thinks they are telling the truth. They distort the truth 180 degrees in a completely unconcerned, determined, brazen manner.”
Referring to the crimes against the people of Yemen, His Eminence said, “For example, it has been six years now that the US’s Arab ally has been bombarding the oppressed people of Yemen in their homes and on the streets, in hospitals and at school. The people have been besieged and their supplies of food, medicine and oil have been cut off. And of course, this has happened with the US’s go-ahead. At that time too, a Democratic administration was in power in the US. They gave that cold-hearted, cruel, oppressive government the green light to behave toward the Yemeni people in such a cruel manner.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added, “Now the Yemenis have managed to create defensive weapons for themselves by benefiting from certain opportunities. They have even built some of these weapons in order to respond to this 6 years of bombardment.”
Imam Khamenei emphasized, “As soon as the Yemenis respond in some way, they cry out using their propaganda machines, saying, ‘They have attacked and killed.’ All of them say this, including the United Nations. The United Nations’ action is truly worse than what the US is doing. Well, the US is an arrogant, oppressive government. But why the United Nations? The United Nations does not condemn the culprit for its six years of bombarding (Yemen), but it condemns the Yemenis because they occasionally defend themselves and because that defense has worked!”
Elsewhere in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed the fact that, “The US has the largest nuclear weapons arsenal in the world, and it has used it too. The only government that has ever used an atomic bomb is the US government when they massacred 220,000 people in just one hour. Then they scream that they are against the development of atomic weapons.”
Imam Khamenei added, “The US supports a criminal who cuts his opponent into pieces with a saw. Later on, they say that they support human rights. So they distort the truth to this extent!”
His Eminence stated, “It was America that created the DAESH and this has been acknowledged by the Americans themselves. It is not us who are making this claim. Rather, this has been acknowledged both by the one who created it and by the one who was his rival. They themselves created that group. And then they have built military bases in Iraq and Syria using the excuse that the DAESH is present in those countries and that they are going to fight them.”
Pointing to some of the examples of the US helping the DAESH, he said, “They provide DAESH with modern, advanced, media tools. They also give them money, allow them to sell Syrian oil and tell them to use the money for their goals. At the same time, they claim that they are fighting the DAESH.”
