My dear ones, there is a responsibility which is on the shoulders of you and all the Iranian nation. The nation is enduring certain difficulties. All of the nation is enduring these difficulties, but everyone should know that such difficulties are temporary. You youth do not remember this. It is about the time of the Sacred Defense and the Imposed War. During the first year, we used to say that the war would end in a year. Then in the second year, we used to say that it would end in that year. The same thing happened in the third year. In those years, the Iranian nation was feeling the hardships that were a result of the war with all their heart and soul and with all their existence. Nonetheless, they endured despite the severity of the pressure. And the pressures were much more severe than the current ones. There were immense pressures. When people wanted to walk on the streets in Tehran, Saddam’s missiles would land in the middle of them. Other cities were the same way. This was the situation. The situation at the front was another issue. But those hardships ended. Hardships can come to an end in one of two ways: one is with a feeling of satisfaction and the other is with a feeling of dissatisfaction. When the Imposed War ended we had a feeling of satisfaction, that is it ended with the victory of the Iranian nation. What was the reason for this? The reason was that they endured the difficulties.
I tell you that today’s difficulties will come to an end as well and we can have a feeling of satisfaction when they end. But what is the condition for this to happen? The condition is that the people of the Iranian nation – particularly the officials who are busy in various positions – do their duties well. You should know that the Islamic Republic’s destiny is dignity and advancement. You should also know that the destiny of the enemies of the Islamic Republic is humiliation and decline. All evidence shows and proves this to us. And this will happen. On that day, some of us may not be living, but the Iranian nation will be there, alive and well. The revolutionary movement and the sacred Islamic government will be alive and well too. They will remember these days and speak about the sufferings of the Iranian nation saying, “…distress and affliction befell them and they were shaken violently, so that the Apostle and those who believed with him said: When will the help of Allah come? Now surely the help of Allah is nigh!” [Holy Quran, 2:214] On that day, the people will be thankful for, appreciate and pay homage to your resistance, steadfastness and good performance in the same way that we appreciate the value of the soldiers and martyrs of the Sacred Defense at this time.
