Ayatollah Khamenei agrees to pardon, reduce penalty of 1117 eligible convicts

 

On the occasions of the auspicious anniversary of the appointment of Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) to prophethood [‘Eid al-Mab’ath] and the National Day of Islamic Republic of Iran (April 1), the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution agreed with the request to pardon, reduce or change the penalty of 1117 eligible convicts at the Public and Revolutionary Courts, the Judicial Organization of Armed Forces, and the State Discretionary Punishment Organization.

Hujjat-ul Islam wal-Muslimin Raeesi, the Head of the Judicial Branch, addressed a letter to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution wherein he proposed forgiveness, reduction or change of penalty for the convicts who have been recognized as having met the needed conditions at the general office of penalty forgiveness of the Judicial Branch. This proposal, in compliance with article 11 of Act 110 of the constitution, was accepted by Ayatollah Khamenei.
