TEHRAN, June 23 -- Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that nurses are angels of mercy for patients, adding that nurses and the nursing profession play a very important role in providing healthcare and protecting society's health.
Addressing Iran's nurses on the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zeinab (SA), which is also Nurse Day, the Leader described the nursing occupation as one of the most difficult jobs in terms of mental and physical pressure and said the fact that nurses must constantly attend to patients and alleviate their pain and suffering with patience and kindness and are required to be away from home and to work, even during holidays, show what a difficult task nursing is, and officials should always understand this.
Congratulating nurses on the auspicious occasion, the Leader said that in light of nurses' difficult task, officials should pay special attention to the nursing occupation in making plans and should make greater efforts to solve their economic and employment problems and their problems in receiving training and getting leave and vacation time, within the means of the government.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that God values and rewards nurses for performing such a difficult and important task and nurses should be aware of the importance of their job.
