Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, said on Monday, August 30, that the Iranian youth should try their best to follow in the footsteps of Imam Ali (greetings be upon him), who epitomized bravery, generosity, and faithfulness.
In a meeting with a large number of Basijis, students, and university professors, Ayatollah Khamenei congratulated all Muslims on the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (greetings be upon him). The Leader expressed regret over the fact that Imam Ali's shrine in Najaf was recently desecrated by the occupiers, but he stressed that the occupiers have not been able to undermine the spiritual dignity that is associated with this sacred place.
The Leader went on to say that Imam Ali (greetings be upon him) was the pioneer in understanding and promoting the new ideology that was introduced by Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his household). "He made serious efforts to defend the faith and remained undaunted in the face of numerous difficulties. Indeed, the great Imam serves as a true model for the Iranian youth," the Leader noted.
Ayatollah Khamenei drew a comparison between the current situation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the difficult situation Imam Ali (greetings be upon him) endured more than 13 centuries ago. He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has angered the arrogant powers and provoked their various accusations and deceptive plots by presenting a new ideology, but he added that the Islamic system is the source of hope and awareness for the Islamic Ummah.
The Leader stated that the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran served as a wake-up call for all Muslims throughout the world, brought scholars back to their Islamic identity, and revived efforts to restore the trampled rights of followers of the Muslim faith.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the enemies of the Islamic Revolution are targeting the youth by hatching different plots. He called on the youth to be mindful of such plots and try to foil them in a careful manner.
