Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Sunday, November 14, led the Eid-al-Fitr (fast-breaking feast) prayers in Tehran. A very large number of the faithful residents of the capital took part in the prayers that were characterized by great spirituality.
In the first sermon, the Leader felicitated the Iranian people and all the Muslims throughout the world on the auspicious occasion. He called the holy month of Ramazan an exceptional occasion for speeding on the path toward salvation and proximity to Almighty Allah.
The Leader further referred to the ups and downs that might occur in the temporal and spiritual life of every human being and noted that the result of fasting, prayers and acts of worship during the holy month of Ramazan is piety, which is a great asset. He added that this valuable asset should be preserved during the whole year.
In the second sermon of the prayers, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that there is a growing tendency among the Iranian people, especially among the devoted youth, toward spiritual values.
"A nation which believes in God, a nation which has Ramazan, and a nation which believes in jihad and martyrdom would never be vanquished," he stressed.
The Leader further expressed his gratitude to the Iranian people for their grand and magnificent nationwide rallies on the World Day of Quds. Hinting at the daily crimes being committed by Zionists against oppressed Palestinians and the suppression and massacre of Iraqi people by U.S. forces, he said that these brutal acts are signs of an undeclared war that the global arrogance has waged against Islam. However, the Leader pointed out, "U.S. politicians, who are the main enemies of Muslims, will face strong resistance wherever they act against Islam."
In conclusion, Ayatollah Khamenei cited adherence to Islam and spiritual values, unity, alertness and insight, the presence of Iranian people, especially the motivated youth, on the scene, government officials' efforts to serve the people and the people's readiness to protect Islam as some of the factors contributing to the dignity and power of Iranian people. He said that these factors would discourage and prevent the arrogant powers from considering any act of encroachment against the Islamic Republic.
