In an address to the audience, the Leader referred to the role and duties of Islamic clergy, stressing that Islamic clergy is entrusted with the crucial task of guiding the society. He stated that in any arena that Islamic clerics with spiritual and popular characteristics have entered, they have been the source of numerous blessings for society.
Ayatollah Khamenei further hinted at the need for leading a simple life and avoiding worldly enticements and material pleasures. He noted that Islamic clergymen should be characterized by a cheerful disposition, and that they should make every effort to solve the people's problems. "In order to play their basic role, the clergy should be spiritual in its real sense," he remarked.
Further in his statements, the Leader considered the presence of politico-ideological departments in the armed forces a divine blessing. He pointed out that wherever this department has rendered its services, very valuable results have followed from those services.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the expansion of useful and effective activities of the politico-ideological department is essential for boosting and promoting human and religious values in the Disciplinary Force. He also noted that a humble conduct and avoiding formalities would help the officials in charge of the department to perform their heavy duties more efficiently.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic further described the Disciplinary Force a very significant force due to its major role in maintaining law and order and ensuring security in society. He stated that the valuable services rendered by the force are always endorsed by the general public.
Before the Leader's address, the director of the politico-ideological department, Hojjatoleslam Rahmani, presented a report about the department's activities.
