The chairman and members of the Experts Assembly met the Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Thursday, March 17.
In an address to the audience, the Leader described the Islamic Republic's defiance within the framework of the new Islamic order of the new world order, which has been contrived by the arrogant powers to prepare the ground for their domination of the world, as the main issue of the country. He stressed that, under the circumstances, vigilance and awareness on the part of both the people and government officials is of utmost importance.
Referring to the negative propaganda campaign launched by the United States against the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei considered U.S. inability to cope with the Islamic system as the main reason for the negative propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
"The Islamic Republic, which has been established based on religious thought and ideology, and which has spread roots like a righteous tree and attracted the attention of other nations in the Islamic world, has made it difficult for the domineering and expansionist powers to establish their intended material system in the world. Consequently, these powers have been alarmed and dismayed by the existing realities," he told the audience.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic hinted at the vain hopes that have been nurtured by the arrogant powers over the recent years regarding the Islamic Republic's adoption of policies intended by the arrogant powers and its gradual assimilation into the international material system. He further stated, "However, the drawing up of the 20-Year Perspective Document, which follows the main objective of turning Iran into a developed country with an Islamic and revolutionary identity and a source of inspiration to other Muslim nations, has dashed all their hopes."
Elsewhere in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the "Great Middle East" plan that has been proposed by the United States, noting that the plan is aimed at establishing U.S. domination of the Middle East region, which is rich in natural resources, and preparing the ground for the Zionist regime's supremacy over other regional countries.
"The United States intends to establish its desired system, in which the Zionist regime will play a pivotal role and in which apparently elected but submissive governments will participate, in order to exercise utter dominance over the region. But this is a dream that will never come true," the Leader stated. He considered the vigilance and awakening of Muslim nations as the main factor frustrating U.S. dreams for the region.
Turning to the domestic front and the upcoming presidential elections, the Leader noted that the Iranian people will in the next presidential elections vote for a candidate who is committed to the Islamic values and revolutionary ideals and who is energetic and competent enough to fulfill the objectives foreseen by the 20-Year Perspective Document.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the country's full-scale development is a time-consuming process, but he stressed that the competence and efficiency of the next chief executive and the individuals that he will choose as his cabinet members can play a major role in accelerating the country's development.
Further in his statements, the Leader described the Experts Assembly as an assembly with a unique status in the country. "The members of the Experts Assembly are all elected representatives of the Iranian people. Besides, the assembly members are Islamic jurisprudents and senior clergymen and some of them hold high-ranking positions in the government. These features cause the Experts Assembly to have a unique status in the country," the Leader remarked.
In conclusion, Ayatollah Khamenei told the Experts Assembly members that in cases where they reach ultimate decisions on certain issues, they should publicly announce their decisions and ask the relevant government officials to carry those decisions into effect.
