Members of the high council of state Medical Regulation Organization met the Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Saturday, April 16.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader stated that treating the people suffering from various illnesses kindly and sympathetically and charging them for medical services with due attention to their financial conditions are among the virtues stemming from medical ethics.
He pointed out that the medical community plays a very important role in the everyday life of citizens and can further its real interests through appropriate ties and sound relationship with the public.
Ayatollah Khamenei further expressed his appreciation for the valuable services rendered by the Iranian medical community and the Medical Regulation Organization (MRO).
"The MRO, while taking the interests and legal and professional rights of medical doctors into consideration, should also look after the intellectual property rights of the medical community in its decisions and various measures. Performing this task requires careful attention to medical ethics," he emphasized.
Touching on the dignity and self-confidence emanating from medical profession, the Leader of the Islamic Republic told the audience that the Medical Regulation Organization should make sure these special features are further strengthened through respectful treatment of patients, so that the medical community would attain greater honor and a higher status in society.
Before the Leader's speech, the MRO director, Dr. Shahaboddin Sadr, presented a report about the organization's activities and pointed out that removing the existing shortcomings in rendering medical and health services and reducing medical expenses are among the main objectives that the MRO is trying to accomplish.
