On the auspicious birth anniversary of the noble daughter of the holy prophet of Islam, Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her), a number of poets and eulogists called on the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Wednesday, July 27.
The day also marked the birth anniversary of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution and the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini.
At the meeting, the poets and eulogists recited some poems in praise of the noble character and grand personality of Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her) and her many virtues.
In an address to the audience, the Leader pointed out that the designation of the birth anniversary as the Mothers' Day and also as the Women's Day provides an opportunity to study the high status that has been conferred on women by Islam. He underlined that there are certain misconceptions with regard to the women's status in society, and that these misconceptions should be removed by delving into the views expressed by Islam on the dignity and status of women.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that women have played the most sensitive, effective and lasting role in human history, and that the women's role should be fully recognized based on sound logic and reasoning.
"Under the guise of supporting women, the Western civilization has actually betrayed women and undermined or ignored their great role in history, society and family," Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out.
The Leader further referred to the unique and influential role played by the women's motherly emotions and feelings in the transfer of culture, knowledge, civilization and morality in human societies.
"The Western world has prevented women through empty promises from playing their unique familial role. Also, by disregarding the women's genuine rights, it has weakened families, which are the foundations of any society, and as a result has posed a serious threat to the future generations," he noted.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that disregarding the women's rights and role and also ignoring the significance and status of families in society will act as a strong flood in the long run, wearing away the foundations of the Western civilization.
Further in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Republic hinted at the dignity and high status that Islam has vested in women.
"The praise expressed by Islam for the women's familial role does not mean at all that women should not take part in social activities. However, some biased individuals or those who have not understood the Islamic teachings correctly assume that Muslim women should either play their roles at home or engage in social activities. But the fact is that Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her) was not only a dedicated wife and mother, but she was also engaged in social activities," the Leader told the audience.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that devotion and servitude to Almighty Allah was the real merit of Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her). He pointed out that the spiritual rank and standing of Her Holiness Fatimah (greetings be upon her) as well as that of the holy prophet of Islam (peace be upon him and his infallible household) and the Imams (greetings be upon them) is beyond the conception and understanding of ordinary men.
The Leader emphasized that eulogists play an important part in expounding the glorious facts related to the infallible household of the holy prophet (greetings be upon them). Thus, he stated, they should be quite heedful of the content of the poems which they recite in their praise, and that they should avoid exaggeration or superficial matters in their poems.
Ayatollah Khamenei also told the poets and eulogists to make use of authentic Islamic knowledge and moral concepts as well as appropriate melodies in reciting their poems. He stated that by doing so, poets and eulogists will be able to play a more effective role in publicizing the Islamic knowledge and moral and spiritual virtues of the household of the holy prophet (greetings be upon them).
