A few hours after IRGC's successful missile attack on ISIS positions in Dier ez-Zor, Syria, commanders of the "Laylat ul-Qadr" operation met with Ayatollah Khamenei.
The missile strike on Dier ez-Zor was carried out only days after ISIS committed two acts of terrorism on Iranian soil--in one day: one attack centered on an Iranian Parliament building; the other attack occurred at the Shrine of Imam Khomeini. Dozens of Iranians were martyred and wounded as a result of this massacre.
The brutal terrorist attack, claimed by ISIS, led to a firm retaliation by Iran against ISIS cells in Syria. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out a successful missile attack on key ISIS positions in Deir ez Zor, Syria. The Operation, dubbed “Laylatul-Qadr” struck a major blow against ISIS operations.
Iran's Supreme Leader hailed the efforts of IRGC team who successfully targeted the ISIS key bases: "You did an outstanding job. May God accept your efforts; your service is included as a form of worship this holy month. Work as much as you can on missile development. Notice how obsessed the enemy has become over your missile technology, then you’ll realize how crucial you’re task is!"
His Eminence held: "You all are very capable. You can, and you should continue with your hard efforts. The enemy should feel this slap across their face."
Furthermore, Imam Khamenei stressed that civilian lives should be protected during the Dier ez-Zor missile operation. Finally, the Commander of the operation assured Ayatollah Khamenei that, as he had ordered, only terrorist cells were targeted and civilian lives were carefully protected.
