Observing Iran’s National Week of Natural Resources, the Leader of the Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, planted two fruit tree saplings this morning, March 8, 2017.
During this event Ayatollah Khamenei stressed, “Concerns surrounding plants, green spaces, and the protection of our natural environment are all very important issues for Iran. Officials, whose works are related to the protection of forests, pastures, and agricultural lands, must pay special attention to their work [in these areas].”
His Eminence referred to the pastures and forests, where various medicinal herbs grow, and the unique forests of Northern Iran, declaring, “The beautiful forests of Northern Iran are among the most unique forests in the world. However, a few traders, neglecting national interests, have encroached upon the ecosystems of forest and national resources, destroying forests to build villas. Our forests should be protected from these encroachments!”
Ayatollah Khamenei also highlighted the quality of Iranian fruit, expressing regret over importing foreign fruits, and asserted, “Importing fruits from foreign countries is among harmful actions, and officials should urgently prevent this.”
Finally, Ayatollah Khamenei described the Week of Natural Resources, and the tree planting events, as symbolic of the Iranian nation’s respect for nature across their homeland. He then held, “We should all appreciate this divine blessing.”
