Some members of the Association of Islamic Societies of the Iranian Students in Europe (AISISE) met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Sunday, August 20.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader stated that Muslim nations, thanks to the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, have experienced an Islamic awakening, and that Islam has turned into a momentous strategy shaping the lives of Muslims in various societies.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that it is the duty of all the followers of Islam and adherents of the Islamic Revolution, especially faithful and intellectual youngsters, to make incessant efforts to accomplish the ideals of the Islamic system and promote Islamic principles and values in society and prevent all kinds of deviation.
The Leader also pointed out that wisdom, insight and definite criteria for recognizing right and wrong as well as moving on the right path and combating evil are among the heavy responsibilities that are shouldered by every Muslim.
"In the modern world in which there are great challenges, all Muslims should play their due part in introducing the pure Islam to the world. They should also beware of digression, reactionaryism, narrow-mindedness, leanings toward alien ideologies and shortsightedness," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.
Further in his statements, the Leader of the Islamic Republic hinted at certain organized attempts that were made before the Islamic Revolution to portray religion as opposed to scientific and human progress.
"The Islamic societies of Iranian students both inside the country and abroad refuted this thinking and showed in practice that there was no conflict between scientific progress and religiousness and adherence to religious values and principles," the Leader observed.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that based on the Islamic teachings, moving on the path toward scientific progress and development in various spheres of life and opening new frontiers in human knowledge are considered as great and highly valuable endeavors.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader honored the memory of martyred Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Beheshti, who was the founder of the Association of Islamic Societies of the Iranian students in Europe.
The Leader's representative in the AISISE, Hojjatoleslam Ejje'i, also speaking at the meeting, referred to the fortieth anniversary of the association's establishment. He further expounded on the activities of the association both before and after the Islamic Revolution's victory.
Hojjatoleslam Ejje'i said that those members of the association who have graduated are now serving the Iranian nation in various universities and government organizations. He also noted that the production of knowledge is a major goal high on AISISE agenda.
