On the eve of the birth anniversary of Imam Hasan Mojtaba (greetings be upon him), a group of young and veteran poets called on the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Sunday, October 8.
At the meeting, the poets recited their poems that had been composed in praise of the holy Prophet of Islam and his household (peace and greetings be upon them) and also the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense. They recited some poems with religious and social themes too.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader described as ‘progressive' the Persian literary trend that has emerged in society following the victory of the Islamic Revolution. He also emphasized that the Iranian poets, especially the young poets, are expected to imbue their audience and society with a sense of hope and aspiration, dynamism and desire for progress through the language of poetry.
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the commendable poems that have been composed with the themes of martyrdom, jihad and the Sacred Defense. He stated that the literary and artistic atmosphere in society should be directed toward revolutionary ideals, and that it should be aimed at motivating the public to make greater efforts in order to make up for the existing retardations and shortcomings.
At the beginning of the meeting, the young and veteran poets said their evening and night prayers, which were led by Ayatollah Khamenei. Then, they broke their fast in the presence of the Leader of the Islamic Republic.
