The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei planted two saplings on the occasion of Tree Plantation Day on Tuesday, March 6.
Speaking at the ceremony, which was also attended by the Iranian minister of agriculture, the Leader described the plantation of trees and the creation of green areas as a valuable measure resulting in many blessings.
Ayatollah Khamenei also underlined the need for the promotion of planting saplings and the expansion of green belts around cities. He stated that necessary measures should be taken to prevent the destruction of or the encroachment on the green areas in cities, especially in the thickly-populated cities and in the capital Tehran.
