Leader's Message in Commemoration of Martyrs and Devotees of the Sacred Defense Era

The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on September 22, 2005 issued a message in commemoration of martyrs and devotees of the Sacred Defense era. In his message, the Leader described martyrs as the symbols of the epical and golden era of the Sacred Defense and emphasized that the remembrance of honorable martyrs, who manifested the exalted character of the faithful Iranian nation through the sacrifice of their lives, is enlivening and invigorating. The message was read by the Leader's representative in the Martyrs Foundation, Hojjatoleslam Rahimian, at the Martyrs Cemetery in Tehran during a ceremony in which the tombs of martyrs were dusted, washed with rose water and strewn with flowers. In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

The epical event created by the Iranian nation in the Sacred Defense era displayed the great capabilities and potentials of the people of this divine land, especially their power of resistance and valor, power of innovation and creativity, intelligence and wisdom, emotional and cordial bonds, purity of heart, clarity of thought and above all, their deep religious faith.

The symbols of the epical and golden era of the Sacred Defense are the honorable martyrs who, through the sacrifice of their lives, reinforced this grand edifice and manifested the exalted character of the faithful Iranian nation.

The remembrance of our revered martyrs, like blood that is infused into the body, is enlivening and invigorating for our nation. Therefore, the memory of our honorable martyrs should always be kept alive by the Iranian nation.

May divine peace and grace be granted to our esteemed martyrs, their patient and forbearing families and progeny and to all the devotees and followers of the path of truth and equity.
