Leader Meets with Indonesian Vice President

Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met Friday with the Indonesian Vice President Boediono and his accompanying delegation. At the meeting, His Eminence referred to the main values of the Non-Aligned Movement and the capacities and resources of the member states, stressing: "The main goal of the founders of the Non-Aligned Movement was not to establish a ceremonial organization, rather they were after a significant and alive movement and it is necessary to revive this goal."

At the meeting, His Eminence referred to the main values of the Non-Aligned Movement and the capacities and resources of the member states, stressing: "The main goal of the founders of the Non-Aligned Movement was not to establish a ceremonial organization, rather they were after a significant and alive movement and it is necessary to revive this goal."

His Eminence added: "The member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, including countries such as Indonesia which are among the founders of this movement, should have an effective presence and play a significant role in important regional and international issues by cooperating with each other and making use of the existing capacities."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed the need for utilizing the experiences and advances of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, further stating: "Of course, independent and Islamic countries have enemies and it is necessary to guard against their plots and conspiracies."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that one of the dangerous plots is efforts to foment discord and sectarian conflict, especially between Shia and Sunni Muslims. He added: "Such actions are carried out by mercenary elements who are supported by certain global powers and the examples can be seen in Afghanistan and Pakistan."

His Eminence reiterated: "Al-Qaida and Taliban were created in the region with the support of America's allies. And under the pretext of confronting them, America drops bombs on countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, but the main goal is to spread its domination over these countries."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution warned that it is necessary to be vigilant against dangerous plots designed to cause an ethnic and sectarian war in Indonesia, Egypt and Libya. He also stressed the need for further cooperation among Muslim countries.

In this meeting, the Indonesian Vice President expressed his satisfaction with the way the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement has been held in Tehran and said that there are many areas for Iran-Indonesia economic cooperation. "During the negotiations which were held in Tehran, it was decided that private sectors and businessmen of the two countries should become more active and explore the ways of increasing economic cooperation."

He said that the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement have good capacities for playing a greater and more important role in international issues. Referring to ethnic and sectarian diversity in Indonesia, he said: "The Indonesian government has always been after creating appropriate ground for peaceful coexistence and unity of different ethnic and religious groups in Indonesia."

The Indonesian Vice President pointed out that he has a degree in economics and addressing the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, he said: "I have studied your perspectives on economy of resistance and I find them very interesting and novel."
