Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this evening with the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari. At the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the historical, cultural and religious bonds between Iran and Pakistan will prepare the way for further expansion of the relations between the two countries. He also stressed the need to strengthen Tehran-Islamabad relations in all areas.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the unity among the Pakistani people will foil the evil plots of the Americans. He further reiterated: "America is trying to achieve its illegitimate goals by fomenting discord in Pakistan, but the Pakistani people's awareness of Washington's evil intentions will bring about further resistance of the Pakistani nation against America's efforts to spread its hegemony over Pakistan."
Speaking at the meeting, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his satisfaction over his meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and said: "Pakistan will make every possible effort to expand its good relations with Iran."
The Pakistani President said that the relations between Iran and Pakistan are supported by a firm cultural and historical background. "These relations will have a bright future."
