Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with the speaker and members of the Iranian Majlis. Speaking during the meeting, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution gave a comprehensive analysis of the current situation of the world as well as the country's internal situation. He said that great changes are taking place regarding the position of the US and European powers in the world and their influence on global matters.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the current situation of the world as very critical and unique, further adding: "The current situation of the world will have an influence on future generations as well as the future of the country."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that analyzing and developing an appropriate understanding of the current situation of the world as well as maintaining an active presence in the ongoing international developments will prepare the ground for strengthening the position of the Islamic Republic and helping the country pursue its goals and ideals.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the current developments happening in the Middle East region, particularly those regarding the issue of Palestine and said: "All these developments are indicative of an important change in the region. At the international level, great changes are taking place regarding the position of the US and some European countries in the world and their influence on global matters."
He further touched on the unity and vigilance of the Iranian nation and their unique commitment to the ideals and path of Imam Khomeini (r.a.).
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the internal situation of the country and the unique presence of the people in the ceremonies marking the 21st anniversary of the demise of Imam Khomeini, further adding: "Fortunately, the vigilance and performance of the people was contrary to what the enemies of the Islamic Republic expected. And the people proved that they are deeply committed to Imam Khomeini and his ideals."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the MPs are the representatives of such a nation and stated that everyone was witness to the enthusiastic presence of the people and their support for the Revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that despite the existence of political differences, the Majlis is composed of enthusiastic, faithful, revolutionary, and committed MPs and added: "Besides pursuing ideals, the MPs should take realities into consideration when passing laws. And they should specify a realistic path for achieving ideals."
His Eminence described sincere cooperation between the Majlis and the administration as necessary and reiterated that such cooperation should be mutual. "It is not acceptable for any of the two sides to claim that it has fulfilled all its duties and is waiting for the other side to take a step forward."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the law has specified the duties of the Majlis and the administration as well as their limits. He added: "Although some of these limits have not been clearly specified in the law and amendments need to be made in this regard, the country is now in need of cooperation between the administration and the Majlis."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the administration should not disobey the laws passed by the Majlis and the Majlis should not create obstacles to the administration's plans either.
Ayatollah Khamenei said: "It is true to say that the administration should obey the laws. However, lawmakers should also consider the role and situation of executive managers because the administration is in charge of enforcing the laws, and everyone should help facilitate the process."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that sincere cooperation between the Majlis and the administration is an issue which goes beyond political orientations and added: "This is an issue which is related to the Revolution and the country. And cooperation between the Majlis and the administration should be based on such a view."
His Eminence referred to the importance of the supervisory role of the Majlis and said that a mechanism should be developed in order to supervise the performance of the Majlis and the MPs.
He further touched on the fifth development plan and stated: "The fifth development plan is an important plan. And when discussing the plan, the Majlis should complement the bill proposed by the administration and not try to completely change the bill."
