Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his accompanying delegation. Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the independent and forward-looking policies of the Brazilian government regarding global issues and stressed that the only way to change the current unfair situation of the world is to expand cooperation among independent governments.
Ayatollah Khamenei further stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to cooperate with the Brazilian government in regard to bilateral and international issues.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the changes in the Brazilian government's policies during the recent years and added that Brazil is a great country which is very influential in international and Latin American issues.
He further stated that the stances adopted by the Brazilian government during the recent years have been independent and opposed to those of the US government.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the Brazilian President's remarks about changing the structure of the UN and stated that close cooperation among independent governments and their involvement in global issues is the only way to change the current unfair situation of the world.
His Eminence further reiterated: "The superpowers have created a hierarchical structure of power in the world. And there is a superpower at the top of this structure. Such a system should change, and it is possible to bring about this change."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the domineering powers and particularly the US are displeased with cooperation and the expansion of relations among independent governments as well as the influence of these governments over global issues.
He further stated: "A clear manifestation of this issue is the uproar caused by the Americans about the Brazilian President's trip to Iran. This is because they are opposed to such relations."
Ayatollah Khamenei further stressed: "We believe that many of the countries that have been sidelined during the past two hundred years due to the policies of the domineering powers can now play a role in global issues."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that if these countries manage to play a role in global matters, the US government will adopt a tough stance against them. He further added: "A clear manifestation of this situation is the policies adopted by the US government against the Islamic Republic of Iran during the past thirty years. But we believe that the side that pursues justice persistently will emerge victorious out of this battle."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that there is no limit to the superpowers' greed and added: "The superpowers will only stop pursuing their goals when they are forced to do so."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also referred to the great capacities of Iran and Brazil and said that the two countries can expand their cooperation by relying on these capacities. He also added that Iran and Brazil can share their experience in various fields.
