Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued a decree today appointing Ayatollah Sayyid Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi as a member of the fuqaha of the Guardian Council as well as the Expediency Council. The full text of the decree is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Dear Ayatollah Sayyid Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi,
As your term as the head of the judiciary has ended, I appreciate the services you rendered in the judiciary branch and appoint you as a member of the Guardian Council for the current term as well as the Expediency Council for the current five-year term in accordance with Article 91 of the Constitution.
I pray to Allah to bestow success on you in the critical duties which you will assume.
