Imam Khamenei agreed to pardon, commute penalty for eligible convicts

On the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei agreed to pardon or commute the punishment of a number of eligible convicts.

Imam Khamenei agreed to pardon and commute the sentences of 2,315 convicts sentenced in the Public and Revolutionary Courts, the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces, and the State Discretionary Punishment Organization.
On the occasion of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Hujjatul Islam Raisi, Iran’s Judiciary Chief, addressed a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and requested permission to pardon, reduce and change the sentences of 2,315 convicts who have been identified as meeting the necessary conditions by the Pardon and Exemption Commission of the Judiciary. This request was approved by Imam Khamenei in compliance with Article 11 of Act 110 of the Constitution.
