Family is the place for moving toward perfection

Islam is in favor of women working. Not only is Islam in favor of women working, it also considers their working to be necessary as long as it does not interfere with women’s principle, most important job, which is bringing up the children and preserving the family. A country cannot say that it has no need for women to work in various fields! But a woman’s work should not be in conflict with her dignity and her spiritual and human value. A woman should not be humiliated and forced to be humble and submissive.

In Islam, the family is defined as a place where two human beings find calm. It is the place where two people find mental peace. It is the place where two human beings become fond of one another. It is the place where a person becomes complete by way of another. It is the place where a person finds inner purity and mental comfort. This is the family environment. This is how important the family is in Islam.

In the Western world today, the family has a very weak foundation. Families – especially women – suffer from separations and breakups. If a family, God forbid, breaks up, both the man and the woman in the family will be left wondering what to do, upset, and suffering. However, the woman will suffer the most. In the Western world today, women are suffering from this, because families easily break up and are abolished. Sometimes, women want to break up the family themselves, yet they end up suffering the most from this separation.

Within the family, Islam has placed the two genders of males and females, like two hinges on a door, two eyes on the human face, and two soldiers on life’s battlefield. Each of these two has a certain nature, characteristics, and traits in their body, soul, and thoughts, and also in their instincts and emotions, which are exclusive to them. If these two genders live together with the same limits and standards that have been set for them by Islam, they will have a lasting, caring, blessed, and productive family.

Social or economic changes that cause people to become indifferent and uncaring with regard to each other is not something to be praised. It is a change deserving of blame. If you hear that a child and a father live in the same city in some Western countries, but the child does not ask how his father is doing year after year, or that families do not get together, or that children do not receive affection from their father and mother, these are signs of a decline.

The family is a warm, blessed center in which the strongest foundations of a person’s upbringing are laid. It is in the heart of the family that the first, most important foundations of a person’s spiritual and intellectual upbringing are established. The home is the best place for the comfort of the body and the soul. It is the best center for relieving the fatigue of one’s body and soul. It is the truest environment of intimacy. No intimacy can be imagined or exists in any environment as much as it does in the family between the mother, the children, the father, and the spouses.
