It is necessary to comprehensively improve navy’s combat power & defense equipment

Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces, Imam Khamenei, met with a number of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s naval commanders on Monday, November 28, 2022, on the occasion of the country’s Navy Day. During the meeting he emphasized that making use of the great opportunities and capacities of the sea must become a part of the public culture of the country.

Imam Khamenei stated that it is necessary to comprehensively improve the navy’s combat power and defense equipment while continuing measures such as sailing in distant and international waters. He stated that strengthening the relationship between the armed forces and the government and other executive branches will help in the understanding, cooperation, and development of the tasks that needs to be undertaken.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution also referred to Iranians’ seafaring record in the past, which resulted in the transfer of Islamic and Iranian culture and civilization to other parts of the world. He said, “Despite this history and our vast seacoasts in the north and especially the south of Iran, the culture of using the opportunities available at sea has been neglected and needs to become a part of the public culture of the country.”

Imam Khamenei believes it is necessary to develop the culture of making use of the sea and create a public understanding of the sea as a part of the basic infrastructure. He added, “During the past few years, developing the Makran Beaches has been discussed, and governments have welcomed this idea. However, if we want to make serious progress on this matter, we need to raise people’s awareness about it.”

The Leader of the Revolution also spoke about the effectiveness of making use of artistic productions, including animations, in introducing the diverse opportunities of the sea. The Leader said, “By using artistic productions and introducing the growth capabilities of the country’s naval base in both military and civil sectors, people will become more enthusiastic to take advantage of this opportunity.”

During this meeting, Chief Commander of Iran’s Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, also reported on the actions and plans of this force in different sectors.
