Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Friday, November 5, led the Friday prayers in Tehran. Hundreds of thousands of devoted people took part in the Friday prayers, which coincided with the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (greetings be upon him).
Addressing the worshippers, the Leader discussed several important domestic and international issues. As regards the hue and cry raised by the United States and some other countries over Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the main reason for this commotion and illogical words is the fact that the Iranian people, despite continuous plots and machinations of the enemies and domineering powers, have made considerable achievements and are treading the path of progress by relying on their own capabilities.
The Leader said that the policies of domineering powers are determined by the interests of economic corporations and conglomerates. He said these powers would extend certain facilities to those nations that are under their domination, but they would raise a stir with regard to independent countries like the Islamic Republic.
Ayatollah Khamenei further noted that the success of young Iranian scientists in getting access to nuclear fuel production technology, causing Iran to rank among the 10 countries that possess this important technology, is what has mostly angered the United States and other enemies of the Iranian nation. He added that the enemies are trying to detract from this achievement by accusing Iran of trying to build nuclear weapons.
Expounding on Iran's strategy on nuclear weapons, the Leader stressed that the Islamic Republic is not seeking to produce, stockpile or use nuclear weapons. "We believe that a country that has a united nation and so many devoted youngsters does not basically need nuclear arms," he noted.
Referring to the last Friday in the holy month of Ramazan, which is called the Quds Day, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Iranian people and other Muslim nations to take part in the rallies that are staged on the Quds Day in support of the oppressed Palestinian nation. He said the participation of Muslim nations in these rallies and the expression of support for the cause of Palestine would boost the morale of the Palestinian people and increase their perseverance and resistance against the Zionists.
