Hizbollah Secretary General Meets the Leader

The visiting Secretary General of the Lebanese Hizbollah Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and his entourage met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Tuesday, August 2.

In an address to the audience, the Leader described the Lebanese Hizbollah as a cause of honor and dignity for the Islamic world. Referring to the success achieved by this Islamic organization on various scenes in Lebanon, the Leader stated, "The Lebanese Hizbollah has shown in practice that it is not only endowed with power and initiative in the area of jihad and resistance, but it is also characterized by wisdom and dexterity on the scene of politics."

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that new circumstances are prevailing in the region, and he described a proper understanding of the new circumstances, appropriate decision-making and timely action as decisive factors in dealing with new developments.

"Today, the United States looks tangibly weak in this region. This is evident from U.S. defeat in Iraq and also from the failure of U.S. plans for Lebanon and Iran," Ayatollah Khamenei told the audience.

The Leader of the Islamic Republic further touched on the glorious presidential election that was recently held in Iran, in which nearly 60 million Iranian citizens participated in two stages.

"U.S. officials were wrongly assuming that revolutionary foundations had been weakened in this country. But the massive presence of the Iranian people at the polls and the result of the presidential election shocked and astounded them and forced them to back off for some time," the Leader observed.

In conclusion, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need for vigilance and reliance on Almighty Allah at all times and described the unity and solidarity of Lebanese Muslims as a necessity.

The secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbollah, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the moral support extended by the Islamic Republic to the Lebanese people. He also presented a report on the latest developments in Lebanon.

Nasrallah told the Leader that the most important goal pursued by the United States, the Zionist regime and certain European countries during the recent events in Lebanon was to implement UN resolution 1559 and disarm the Lebanese Hizbollah.

"However, thanks to the prudence and insight of Muslims and the unity and solidarity among different groups, the result of Lebanon's elections turned out to be contrary to what the United States had wished for, and the Hizbollah has not only secured a considerable number of parliamentary seats, but it is also represented in the Cabinet," Nasrallah said at the meeting.

Pointing to the fact that U.S. officials have acknowledged the failure of their plans for Lebanon, the Hizbollah secretary general further noted that the recent political victory in Lebanon was a result of awareness, unity and solidarity of Muslims and different tribes in that country.

Nasrallah also pointed out that because of the Intifada (uprising) and resistance of Muslim Palestinians, the Zionist regime has been forced to withdraw its military forces from Gaza. He stressed that the withdrawal is the second victory achieved through resistance over the past five years.
