Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued a message on the occasion of the National Week of Sacred Defense. The message was read out to the public this morning, (Thursday) September 28, 2017, at a ceremony marking the national day of paying tribute to the martyrs, at Behesht-Zahra graveyard by Hujjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Shahidi Mahallati—Wali Faqih representative at the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs. The following is the full text of the message:

In the Name of the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Martyrdom is a divine gift to the chosen ones. The magnificence of this lofty position is proportional to the grandeur of the sacrosanct self-sacrifice which draws the martyr to the field of resistance and nourishes him with the sweetness of martyrdom.
Pens and words of individuals like me fall short of describing this magnificence; however, in any society or at anywhere in the world where such noble people emerge, it is an obligation for us to recognize through their light the Path, step foot on the right path of ascension to God and sacrifice our hearts and lives.
Peace be upon the master of the martyrs, the bright light for all generation and all eras and peace be upon those martyrs who walked on his path.
